Additional Information: The Plant Farm. New Bern , NC

I grew this type of tree in my Indiana yard before moving to NC.

I like the graceful droopy and irregular branches.

The tree is in a focal spot a the entrance of the yard. A slow grower, to my surprise it has done very well, about double in height over 4 yrs.

This plant has well tolerated  hot summers and cold/strong winds in winter.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: 30 + ft x 8 - 12 ft

PLANT TYPE: Evergreen, conifer

GROWTH RATE: Slow to medium

TEXTURE: fine - showy

LIGHT: Full sun

WATER: medium moist

SOIL: high Organic
As observed in Coastal NC.
BLOOMS: non flowering

FRUIT AND SEED: Male cones are ovoid, brownish green, and 1/8 inches long. Female cones are green, 1/2 inch long, with a recurved central hook on each scale, maturing in spring.
I have seen none on my tree so far.

KEY FEATURES: This is a conical tree with drooping branches and vertical, flattened sprays of bluish green to dark green foliage.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

Tree sits on a high spot in Bed #3. Planted at about 5 ft. with significant root ball. Because of the strong winds we get, attention to water/ dryness is important. Other than few dry branchlets after winter, the tree looks healthy and growing at a good pace. Besides the yard automatic sprinklers a supplemental drip hose is use during summer around the tree.

No trimming or pruning needed. A low maintenance plant. For propagation root cuttings is suggested although I have not try it myself. I have also not seen any cones, male or female on my plant.
