Dendrobium nobile, known as soft cane dendrobiums have heafty pseudobulbs that are long and slim. They grow leaves along the lenght of the cane and blooms sprout from individual stems along the cane. They are deciduous i.e. drop their leaves when the weather gets cold.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: compact trailing
PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Deciduous
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: very bright light, more in winter
WATER: Water the plants regularly when they are actively growing. Mounted plants can be watered daily if air circulation is good. When growth stops in fall, reduce water and increase sunlight
high humidity 60-70 %
SOIL: do well mounted in tree fern bark or, wood baskets. Because of trailing growth, pots are difficult.
As observed in Coastal NC.
BLOOMS:  Spring time, 3 inch pink flowers with flaring on petals. Up to 3 ft. long stems. Flowers grow along the stems. Very fragrant.  Last up to 3 weeks.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

KEY FEATURES: hybrid. At maturity plant can have stems full of flowers up to 3 feet long.
*Grows robustly during spring and summer; growth stops altogether in late fall, and the plants may drop their leaves during the winter resting period.

Plant arrived from Hawaii in a 2” plastic pot with Orchiata mix.
Jan. 2016: Mounted on wood/stone sculpture. Doing well.
Feb. 2017: (1) Mounted /Stone & wood. Plant lost leaves thru winter but appears green. keikes at the top.
Feb. 13, 2017: Removed plant from mount, plant will look better growing eventually in a hanging mode, this mount is not it. Plant did root in mount.
(1) clay 3” R with medium orchiata mix.
Feb. 1, 2018:(1)#1011A-2- new in 4” basket & moss, (1)#1011B - new in 4” basket & moss, (1)#1011C new in 4” basket with moss
Total of (2) #1011A), (1) #1011B, (1) #1011C
Feb. 5, 2018: (1) #1011A-2, #1011B, & #1011C all (3) mounted on Cork- forked tube piece. 
#1011A-1 added to cork -Tube along with #1170 & #1171 & #782 Den.
#1011C-2 added to cork- forked Tube.
Total of (2) Cork mounts with Nobile Den.
March 2022: most plants moved from cork mounts to woodbasket. many dead, most almost dead. Trying to understand care??
July 2022: Change care to clay pot/ceramic beads with plate at base for water supply in summer is working for some other  Den. Nobile . Watering WK ones everyday in summer is producing growth of new canes, promising.
