Pumpkin Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients

Preparation

1   unbaked 9" pie shell with fluted edge


APPLE LAYER

2  medium  green apples, peeled and thinly sliced,  about 2 cups

1/4  cup  granulated sugar

2  teaspoons  all-purpose flour

1  teaspoon   lemon juice

1/4  teaspoon   ground cinnamon

     

PUMPKIN  LAYER

2   eggs

1 1/2  cups  Libby's Solid Pack Pumpkin

1  cup  Nestlé CARNATION evaporated milk

1/2  cup  granulated sugar

2  tablespoons  butter or margarine, melted

3/4  teaspoon  ground cinnamon

1/4  teaspoon  salt

1/8  teaspoon  ground nutmeg

     

CRUMBLE TOPPING

1/2  cup  all-purpose flour

1/3  cup  chopped walnuts

5  tablespoons   butter, softened

3 tablespoons  

Prepare pie crust, set aside.  Preheat oven to 375 F degrees.

 

1. For Apple Layer:

Combine apples with sugar, flour, lemon juice and cinnamon in medium bowl; place in pie shell.

 

2. For Pumpkin layer:

Combine eggs, pumpkin, evaporated milk, sugar, butter, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg in medium bowl; pour over apples.

 

3. Bake in preheated 375 F degree oven for 30 minutes.

   - While pie is  baking, prepare CRUMBLE  TOPPING: combine flour, chopped walnuts and sugar in medium bowl. Cut in softened butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until crumbly

 

4.After the  initial 30 minutes baking, remove pie from oven, sprinkle with Crumble topping. Bake for 20 minutes more or until crust is set. Cool on wire rack.
