Mooring Hitch

beehive

since 1995

April  2012 A new hive was put on the spot. We will start from the beginning. No honey for the first year...

August 2011 Hurricane Irene took the beehive with it. We hope the bees found a new home.

For one Season we enjoy steeling honey from the bees: light in color and taste. We share the harvest with our friends at Christmas.

April 2009 the first Beehive was place at the far East side of the Orchard, facing East at a sunny locations as the bees like warmth.

About 10,000 Italian bees  (3 lbs.) along with a Queen and few drowns were place in the hive on April 18th 2009.

Feedings of sugar syrup ( 1 gallon water + 8 lbs. sugar)  maintain the bees until they are establish.

After the first week the bees have already built significant wax habitat for the eggs to come.

No honey will be extracted during the first year.
